"Our Pets and The Opioid Epidemic"

Believe it or not, our pets have been directly effected by the Opioid Epidemic in two major ways:
1 - Pet owners are abusing, cutting and making up stories about their pets' anxiety levels in order for the owners to get drugs for personal use, mainly Tramadol, Hydrocodone and Xanax.
2 - Due to government regulations requiring cutbacks in production of opioids, the "shortage" has been felt in the veterinarian world because most of the opioids are being used for human consumption, thus vets are suffering a supply shortage and are having to find alternate means to control our pets' discomfort following surgery and trauma who truly need them. In Idaho, vets in late 2018 were unable to get opioids until the end of the first quarter of 2019.
